Warlords of Draenor: New Bits and Pieces

I spent some more time in the Warlords of Draenor Beta this weekend (video to come soon) and tried to pay special attention to how the UI has changed as well as any other changes that might interest us as gold-makers.

While many of these features have been known since Blizzcon, it was great to see them in person.

Read on past the jump for some images and thoughts on UI changes, (possible) green item changes as well as crafting goodies Blizzard is giving us.

New Bag UI System

Warlords of Draenor - New Bag UI

In the Warlords of Draenor Beta you now have the ability to assign certain types of items that will automatically be placed in as well as moved when bags are "cleaned up".

The current assignments are:

  • Equipment
  • Consumables
  • Trade Goods
  • Junk

In addition you can select "Ignore this bag" for the new "Cleanup" option.

While I will likely continue to utilize the AdiBags addon (for its automatic item grouping features) those who want some rudimentary auto-sorting options this, new feature should help people keep their bags more organized.

In addition there is a new "Cleanup" button at the top of the main backpack that will automatically sort your bags.

Those who have used various item/bag sorting addons like MrPlow or BankStack will be familiar with its functionality.

Reagent Bank

Warlords of Draenor - New Reagent Bank, Price: 100g

In the personal bank we know have the option to pay 100g to purchase a "Reagent Bank". This new tab that will hold many types of raw crafting materials.

One of the most interesting (and useful) features of the Reagent Bank is a new button called "Deposit All Reagents". When pressed, this moves all crafting reagents from your bags into your Reagent Bank.

While this is a very hand feature to have and one that will benefit gatherers for sure the next feature will save us even more time.

Crafting From Bank

Warlords of Draenor - Craft From Bank

In the Warlords of Draenor Beta you are able to craft items using materials you have in your personal bank!

In the screenhot above I did not have the Ghost Iron Bars in my bags at the time (they were in my personal bank) but was still able to craft items.

While I'm not sure if they need to be in your Reagent Bank to accomplish this (I doubt it) this is going to been a huge quality-of-life improvement for those of us who craft a lot.

No more running back and forth from the bank to the anvil. Now we can just put mats in our bank and craft away anywhere. I love this.

No More Green BoE Drops?

Warlords of Draenor - Green Item Drop

While questing I did get one green item to drop. When I took a closer look however I got a bit worried about the possibility of green item sales.

In the past I've made lots and lots of gold by taking items dropped in one expansion but usable in the previous expansion and selling them on the auction house.

These items often had much superior stats to the ones dropped in the previous expansion. Great examples of this technique include my 77-80 Cataclysm and 83-84 Mists of Pandaria markets.

As you can see from the screenshot above the green item I received as a drop was Bind on Pickup (BoP) and not Bind on Equip (BoE). Sadly this means the item can not be sold on the auction house.

While there is a chance there may be BoE green items that will drop in Warlords of Draenor, (if you received any I'd love to hear about it) this first green item being BoP wasn't a good sign.

No BoE green items usable during previous expansion leveling means no green item market for WoD.

New Character Model Toggle

Warlords of Draenor - Show New Character Models Option

While so far I think the new character models are great, if you don't like the new models and/or are simply too attached to your current character model the Warlords of Draenor Beta has an option to turn the new models off.

To turn the new character models off (and by so doing turn the old character models back on) go to Interface options > Display > Uncheck the "Show New Character Models" option in the lower right.

(Coincidentally, the character in the screenshot above is the "new" version of my main character. The "old" version is below. Quite a difference.)

While I'm just getting started playing in the Warlords of Draenor Beta, I'm definitely enjoying myself. The new character models are fantastic and the new UI and crafting features are going to make our lives easier.

I'll continue to report on my time in Beta. Be sure to follow me on my Twitch channel as I often stream my Beta sessions.
