How To Reset Your NPCScan Cache

Many of us love using _NPCScan to hunt rare spawns for fun and profit (Collidus the Warp Watcher anyone?). Problem is, once you find a rare spawn _NPCScan won't alert you if you see them again unless you delete your creaturecache.wdb file outside the game.

This short video goes over how to delete the proper file as well as a shortcut to make it faster the next time you need to delete it.

  1. I have been trying to farm Collidus the warp watcher for days now. The dude is nowhere to be found, and he's not cached. Ah well, still trying! There's some good gold to be made with that guy! no wonder everyone else gets to him first! D:

  2. You can pretty easily script something to clear the cache file every time you launch wow.
Create a file like "Wow.bat" in your World of Warcraft folder.
Edit that file and add lines like these:
    cmd /C del "E:\games\World of Warcraft\Cache\WDB\enUS\creaturecache.wdb"
    "E:\games\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe"

Now drag the .bat file to your quicklaunch bar, change the icon and name to resemble wow. Now every time you click the shortcut, it will clear your cache and launch wow.

  3. Just found Mobus (12 mill health rare spawn in Vashj'ir) and was able to target him all while in Blasted Lands. Made me lol.
