On The Seventh Day Flux Rested

It's been an exciting and busy 4 months since the Power Word: Gold blog came into existence. I've met so many awesome people and learned so much.

Today however while we were recording this week's Podcast something was missing. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but something was just a bit "off". Rather than put out a sub-par podcast I decided to stop and think really hard about why we were having such an off day.

Find out what I discovered after the jump.

Adding Item Links To Barking Macros

There are times when adding an item link to your barking macros can mean the difference between making the sale and getting passed over.

Most of us should know how to add an item link if we're barking in trade to sell one item (hold Shift+Left Click the item in your bag) but what if you want a macro to bark the item over and over?

What if you want to bark an item you yourself don't posses (like a Fortune Card forth 5000 gold)? Find the detailed instructions as well as an instructional video after the jump.

16g New 4.2 Obsidium Shuffle Floor Price And Here's Why

Recent news from the Patch 4.2 Public Test Realm (PTR) that the vendor price for uncut uncommon Cataclysm gems has being reduced from 5 gold each to 50 silver (See "Patch 4.2 PTR: Uncut green gems vendor price reduced") has lead many to wonder: "What is the new vendor "price floor" of a 20 stack of Obsidium Ore?"

The answer to that question as well as some advice on what to do to prepare after the jump.

Stalking Auction House Campers and Undercutters

In this short video I go over a few advanced espionage tactics for those trying to find an advantage making sales in heavily camped markets such as glyphs of cut gems.

If you can't be online more than your competition you have to be more creative than your competiton. In this example I use the /tar command along with raid markers to help track my main glyph competition.

Flipping Cataclysm Epic Items Is Legit

Today's guest post was written by Jokine, the co-host of The Power Word: Gold Podcast. You can follow him on twitter at @Jokinee.

Hi. It's Jokinee. The guy who "hasn't reached the gold cap yet" (inside joke). It has been a while since I posted last time but this post is going to be about flipping Cataclysm epics for profit.

As you may know, for example, it's nice to find Elementium Ore for 20g cheaper than it usually is. Or find Khorium Bars for cheap prices because you know that you are going to make a lot of profit with the item you bought for a cheap price. Either way you know the item is rare or you know you will make profit with the specific item anyways (even if it was more expensive).

The "Treasure Potion Trash Dash" Challenges You!

We here at Power Word: Gold are always looking for new and interesting ways to compare ourselves to other gold makers. The struggle to see who has the largest gold epeen is never ending. Like the Highlander said "There can be only one master of gold".

With that in mind we've devised a fool-proof strategy for seeing who has the biggest sack...of gold. Introducing the "Treasure Potion Trash Dash"! The last server-independent gold-making contest you'll ever need. We'll go over the rules and our initial (and massive) results after the jump

Setting Up TradeSkillMaster Groups - A Beginner's Guide Video

A very common question I get asked is "How do I set up auctioning groups in TradeSkillMaster." TradeSkillMaster (or TSM) is a very powerful addon but it can be intimidating at first.

I made this video as a step-by-step guide to setting up auctioning groups for those players new to the addon. I hope it will answer many of those questions and allow players to get up and running with TradeSkillMaster quickly.

If there is a topic you would like to see covered in a future video let me know in the comments.

Flux's Fireside Chat Video 2011.05.13

This is a short informal "chat" style video (inspired heavily by Faid's "Fadian Slip" videos). Its main purpose being a quick 10 minute chat about what ever gold-making subject strikes my fancy. I'm considering doing these on a weekly basis to allow me a bit more freedom to share more "free-form" thoughts and ideas.

The visual part of the video (me doing my glyph routine) isn't meant to match up at all with what I'm chatting about in the video. Consider it more "visual background noise". (If you are good at simultaneously tracking two disparate things you might even find it kind of fun.)

 Cheers, -f

Auction House Basics: Auctionator Shopping Lists

Today I wanted to go over the basics of setting up "Shopping Lists" in the Auctionator addon. Shopping lists are a great way to keep an eye on items and markets that are important to your gold-making efforts.

I use Auctionator Shopping Lists multiple times a day to check my most important markets. I'm including some of my own favorite shopping lists after the jump to get you started.

Cataclysm Skinning + Potion of Treasure Finding = 3000 Gold Per Hour

In this video I demonstrate how I utilize the Potion of Treasure Finding to help motivate and focus my skinning sessions.

While I'm not one to harp on "gold per hour" it was nice to see that I was able to get around 3000g worth of materials in this one hour farming session.

Cataclysm Gems - Finding Lucrative Cuts Via The Undermine Journal Gems Array

The Undermine Journal is a treasure trove of valuable information for anyone  interested in making gold in World of Warcraft.

Unfortunately for many of us it can also seem large (and often overwhelming) sea of information threatening to drown us in numbers. Today I am going to go over one of the most valuable tools I've found on The Undermine Journal: "The Gems Array".
